Format Requirements

Aplimat Journal does not consider presubmission inquiries. All submissions should be prepared in one of the following forms:

  • Manuscript, including tables and figure legends
  • Manuscript, including tables and separate figures files with legend

Prior to submission, authors who believe their manuscripts would benefit from professional editing are encouraged to use language-editing and copyediting services. Obtaining this service is the responsibility of the author, and should be done before initial submission. These services can be found on the web using search terms like "scientific editing service" or "manuscript editing service." Submissions are not copyedited before publication.

In addition to the guidelines below, please refer to our downloadable sample files to make sure that your submission meets our formatting requirements:

  • Download full manuscript sample (PDF)

Submissions that do not meet the Aplimat Journal Publication Criterion for language standards may be rejected.

Manuscript Organization

Aplimat Journal considers manuscripts of any length, usually less than 20 pages, if possible even number of pages. There are no explicit restrictions for the number of words, figures, or the length of the supporting information, although we encourage a concise and accessible writing style. We will not consider monographs.

All manuscripts should be single-spaced and include page numbers.

Manuscripts must begin with the ordered sections:

  • Title
  • Authors
  • Affiliations
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • MSC classification codes -  http://www.ams.org/mathscinet/msc/msc2010.html
  • Introduction

and end with the sections of:

  • Conclusions (optional)
  • Acknowledgments
  • References
  • Current Addresses

The title, authors, and affiliations should all be included on a title page as the first page of the manuscript file. There are no explicit requirements for section organization between these beginning and ending sections. Articles may be organized in different ways and with different section titles, according to the authors' preference. In most cases, internal sections include:

  • Literature review
  • Results
  • Discussion

Aplimat Journal has no specific requirements for the order of these sections, and in some cases it may be appropriate to combine sections.

Abbreviations, if used, should be kept to a minimum and defined upon first use in the text. Non-standard abbreviations should not be used unless they appear at least three times in the text.

Standardized nomenclature should be used as appropriate, including appropriate usage of species names and SI units.

Aplimat Journal articles do not support text footnotes. If your accepted submission contains footnotes, you will be asked to move that material into either the main text or the reference list, depending on the content.

Manuscript File Requirements

Authors may submit their manuscript files in Word (as .doc or .docx), LaTeX (as .tex and .pdf), or RTF format. Word files must not be protected.

LaTeX Submissions

If you would like to submit your manuscript using LaTeX, you must author your article using the Aplimat Journal LaTeX template and/or BibTeX style sheet. Articles prepared in LaTeX may be submitted in PDF format for use during the review process. After acceptance, however, .tex files will be required. Please consult our LaTeX guidelines for a list of what will be required.

Microsoft Word

Submissions with Equations. If your manuscript is or will be in Microsoft Word and contains equations, you must follow the instructions below to make sure that your equations are editable when the file enters production.

  • Format display equations only in MathType (http://www.dessci.com/en/products/mathtype/).
  • Do not use Equations tools or Symbol font for any equation formatting. If your inline equations require special formatting, use MathType.
  • Do not use Graphic Objects.

If you have already composed your article in Microsoft Word and used its built-in equation editing tool, your equations will become unusable during the typesetting process. To resolve this problem, re-key your equations using MathType.

If you do not follow these instructions, Aplimat Journal will not be able to accept your file.

For Authors

Publication Criteria

1. The study presents the results of primary scientific research.

Acceptance decisions related to the submitted papers will be based on: closed, double-blinded review and/or open, non- blinded review.

Consequently:

  • papers submitted to Aplimat Journal will be sent to the member of the Scientific board and/or to additional reviewers for its respective double-blinded reviews; and
  • they also will be submitted to reviewers nominated by their respective authors for its non-blinded review. The author(s) of each submitted paper should nominate at least one reviewer, and can nominate a maximum of three reviewers for the non-blind review of their respective submitted paper.

Acceptance of a submitted paper will be based on both kinds of reviewing. The selection of the best papers, for their publication in Aplimat - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Engineerings, will also be based on both kinds of reviewing. Moreover these papers will be under the supervision of the editorial board of Aplimat Journal.

The reviewing process of extended abstracts, case studies, position papers, reports, white papers, panel presentations will be based on the relevance of the topic, its potential for interdisciplinary communications, its educational value and/or its analogical thinking potential.

Aplimat Journal is designed to communicate primary scientific research. We welcome submissions in any journal subject areas that will contribute to the base of scientific knowledge.

We will not consider:

  • Reviews
  • Case studies, either contemporary or historical
  • Hypothesis or proposal papers
  • Letters, commentaries, or essays
  • Any other type of secondary literature
  • Monographs

We will consider the following article types:

  • Systematic reviews. We consider publishing systematic reviews only if the methods ensure the comprehensive and unbiased sampling of existing literature.
  • Submissions describing methods, software, databases, or other tools.
  • Qualitative research.
  • Studies reporting negative results.

2. Results reported have not been published elsewhere.

Previously Published Works

Aplimat Journal does not accept for publication papers / works that have already been published, in whole or in part, elsewhere in the peer-reviewed literature. In addition, we will not consider submissions that are currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.

We will consider manuscripts that have been deposited in preprint servers such as arXiv or published in a thesis. We will also consider work that has been presented at conferences.

Replication Works

If a submitted study replicates or is very similar to previous work, authors must provide a sound scientific rationale for the submitted work and clearly reference and discuss the existing literature. Submissions that replicate or are derivative of existing work will likely be rejected if authors do not provide adequate justification.

3.The article is presented in an intelligible fashion and is written in standard English.

Aplimat Journal does not copyedit accepted manuscripts, so the language in submitted articles must be clear, correct, and unambiguous. We may reject papers that do not meet these standards. If the language of a paper is difficult to understand or includes many errors, we may recommend that authors seek independent editorial help before submitting a revision. These services can be found on the web using search terms like "scientific editing service" or "manuscript editing service."
